It’s time to start voting and cementing those poll numbers. When we vote in the primary, it lays the foundation to take back our country.
When people don’t vote, we hand over important decisions like health care and jobs to those who build their wealth and power off our backs.
When we vote we make decisions that actually affect our lives. Who controls rent policy? Who sets the minimum wage? Who decides how immigration enforcement works in our communities? These aren’t abstract political questions. They’re about what our families pay and what they can afford.
When we show up together to vote, we take back the power to decide what happens to us.
From Ridgecrest, across the desert, over the mountains, and down to the valleys below- we can take back power. Rep. Fong and Rep. Obernolte voted to close our hospital by voting for the Big Ugly Bill, fund ICE in exorbitant amounts to unjustly detain people based on the color of their skin for months without due process, allow Trump to rule by executive orders that have terrorized the federal workers in our community, and now fast track 100MW Data Centers that will run our basin dry.
In our household, we have decided to cast our votes for Becerra for Governor and Sandra Van Scotter for the House seat in District 20. If we lived in Congressional District 23, we would have voted for Pat Wallis.
Vote No on Measures B & C! We need to have the safeguard of being able to quickly change the direction of the City Council if they become as unwilling to listen to the people and complacent in their jobs. And this council desperately needs a change in direction this November. Check out the Daily Independent’s converge on the last City Council Meeting: “Council members stand by Flock as opponents turn up the heat”. Brenda Licitra has had enough of a council that doesn’t care or listen and will be running for City Council this fall.
