Inyokern Data Center

🏭Many people believe that we need to build more data centers because they think we are behind in the Ai race and we need to catch up with China.  But that is a false narrative.  The US has the most data centers in the world with 4,283. This vastly dwarfs China’s 349. And yet the US is still projected to sink a trillion dollars into the Ai industry over the next 5 years. All for what exactly?  Ai won’t cure cancer, but it might cause cancer with the pollution that the data centers produce. Ai can only pull information together from a data set that already exists.

🌊It seems like we’ve lost sight of sensible objectives in developing new technology. We know people who are actively training Ai to replace them.  Why is our society pushing people to make these insane choices where that they feel obligated to ride the wave as long as possible?  You’re not riding a wave, it’s a tsunami that will destroy you and everyone in its path.  Don’t ride the wave, head for higher ground and look out for your neighbors.
