Flock 

We got approval to get Flock on the agenda for sometime in October. It will either be October 7th or 21st at 6pm at City Hall, please save the dates. City Council agendas are posted the Thursday before the meeting, so I’ll send out another email when I get the word.

We will need people to show up and make comments. A little bird told me that a council member is getting irritated with the CEO. It’s time to turn attention back to why we hate the company.

If you haven’t heard, a camera has been hacked recently and it had all of the same security vulnerabilities as was written about a year ago in this white paper. The company does not care about our safety. Like most Silicon Valley backed companies, they only care about one thing: making their investors happy. And for startups that are venture capitalist backed, that means rapid expansion of the product/service to reach an IPO.

Unfortunately for the investors, Flock is currently considering selling their company instead at a time when they are publicly not favorable. There is speculation that it could be sold to Axon or Motorola, but who would want to buy something so toxic in this moment? I can only think of one real buyer, the federal government. It’s time we get this out of our town and end the contract immediately.

Flock is on the path to reduce the size of its workforce by allowing a severance package to address low morale and possibly also in preparation for a sale. I wonder if employees also got an email titled “Fork in the road.”

Data Center

The developer for the RB Inyokern Data Center and CEC have responded to comments added to the docket. They are not direct replies to the comments listed, so it requires downloading all of the documents and shifting through it to find the answers.

TAOG has created an AI letter generator to add more comments to the docket. If you would like to use that, the developer is required to review your comments and address them. But keep in mind, if 100 people all ask the same question or give the same statement- it will be addressed as a whole and only once. The letter generator is easy to use, but it also doesn’t address the responses from the developer. I appreciate that they have created this.

For those of us who aren’t into the AI, it’s going to take some work. To add new thoughts to the docket, it is not going to be an easy task. It is somewhat of a firehose of information and frankly intimidating to approach. I had a hard time picking which document I should start with first. There are over a dozen that are very lenghty, how do I even begin?

I’ve started with TN271057_20260629T100453_Appendix A Supplement – Section A4 and found a few things on there to comment on. I’m sure you’ll find some interesting statements. There are also some drawings available, I hope some people in construction can comment.

I’m asking for your help. Let’s divide up to the work by last name and tackle this together. I’m suggesting the list below, but feel free to also explore our Google Drive folder or download from the Docket Log itself. Then add your comments to the docket. Together we can stop this project. We’ve been given all the information, let’s find the holes.
