Inyokern Data Canter
Thank you to everyone who has been participating in the Data Center flight, especially the TAOG group- they deserve some serious kudos for their organizational efforts. Our basin is off to a great start in pushing back against the data center. The City of Ridgecrest has requesting intervenor status, China Lake submitted a letter opposing it, and the GA and SSUSD have also agreed to send a letter in opposition.
De-ICE, No Camps California
25 days ago, over 70 detainees inside Adelando Detention Center had begun a hunger strike due to the inhumane conditions that are being forced on them.
- 6 deaths due to healthcare access being withheld
- An excessive use of solitary confinement being used
- Pepper spray used on people inside
- People were strip searched after visitations with family
- Denied blankets during the winter
- Being served spoiled food and dirty water
6 of the hunger strikers are now being punished with 60 days of disciplinary segregation. This means they are being denied visitations and access to the commissary. The lead organizer, Kyron Swaso, has even been transferred to another detention center in El Paso, TX and then again to Louisiana.
Take Action
- Make calls and write letters to demand Swaso be returned to where his legal counsel has jurisdiction
- Donate to KWESI to support detainees in California with food from the commissary
- Support one of the hunger strikers’ GoFundMe
June Primary Election
Sandra Van Scotter and Tessa Lynn Hodge are progressing to the Midterm Election in November! This fall, we’re going to show up in a big way.
Measure B & C, what a close race! According to Ballotpedia it’s still too close to call. Currently No is leading for both with all precincts reporting at 100%. Only votes that could be remaining are ballots that were postmarked on or before June 2nd that haven’t been counted yet. For updates, check Ballotpedia on Measure B and Measure C.
