Prop 50
After the passing of Prop 50, the city of Ridgecrest has been temporarily split to be a part of 2 different districts. Ridgecrest 50501 supported Prop 50 to counter Texas and other states who were bending the knee to Trump’s call to unfairly redistrict their states in an attempt to prevent congress from being flipped in the mid-terms. We’re all for playing fair in a fair game, but the goal post has moved. You have to play the same game or you’re forfeiting the country to authoritarianism.

Congressional District 20
District 20 became more Red post Prop 50 to help flip District 22 Blue. Using the presidential election data, analysis by The Downballot found that Trump would have likely won by 32% vs 30% in District 20. The fight for a close race has become more difficult for District 20, but not by much. Kern County ran a close race for Prop 50, this proves that we could run a close race for District 20 in the primary.
Congressional District 23
District 23 also became more red post-prop 50 but has a narrower lead for Republicans than District 20. This district may be possible to flip. This fight has been brought to our door in Ridgecrest. It will be important that we work to get-out-the-vote for this neighborhood in Ridgecrest. Prop 50 may have secured 5 seats for Democrats, but that doesn’t mean more can’t be flipped Blue.
