I am deeply disturbed that Trump has launched a war against Iran without input from Congress and in such a short period of time after US intelligence would suggest they were far away from producing a real nuclear weapon. Perhaps a dirty bomb could have been achieved, but not a full-up warhead. There was time for negotiations with Iran and approval from Congress. Trump acting unilateral on this proves that he is acting like an authoritarian which is what the No Kings Protests were against.
People on both sides of the aisle are against this escalation. We must call for the restoration of checks and balances, due process, and an end to the chaos. We are supposed to have 3 branches of government with co-equal power. We must stand together to show Congress that they have the support of the people to do their damn job. Representatives fear the backlash of Trump, but the people can give them courage. When we stand up, our reps stand up. Our reps need numbers they can point to from letters, phone calls, and people standing in the streets as evidence to support their position. If we don’t do anything, they won’t do anything.
On Saturday June 28th, we will stand together to celebrate our country the way our founders intended. If you don’t have a sign, bring an American flag and hold it high. We love our country. Accelerationist want to watch our country burn and have a hard reset because they think it has failed. They’re wrong. Let’s show the haters we still believe in America, even if they don’t.
